Let’s stop dancing around the issue and call it exactly what it is. Right now, in the Rocklin Unified School District, a loud contingent of union-backed teachers, state bureaucrats, and radical special-interest groups are actively fighting for the "right" to lie to you. They are fighting for the authority to look a mother or father in the eye at a back-to-school night, smile, and deliberately hide a massive, life-altering psychological development happening under the school’s roof.
When the Rocklin Unified School Board stepped up to pass a common-sense parental notification policy—requiring school staff to simply inform parents within three days if a student requests to change their name, pronouns, or use facilities meant for the opposite sex—it shouldn't have been controversial. It was a victory for basic transparency, common sense, and the fundamental American principle that parents are the ultimate authority over their children.
But instead of respecting families, what did the radical Left do? They weaponized the state, unleashed their union lawyers, and launched an all-out assault on parental rights.

The Union’s Secret Backdoor: Bureaucracy Over Parental Rights
Look no further than the shameful actions of the Rocklin Teachers Professional Association (RTPA) and the California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB). When the board passed this pro-family policy, the union didn’t argue the merits of student welfare in the public square. They knew they’d lose that argument with Rocklin families. Instead, they ran to a highly politicized state labor board, hiding behind a cowardly, bureaucratic loophole. They claimed that informing a mom that her daughter is transitioning at school somehow violates a teacher's "working conditions."
Think about the sheer arrogance of that claim. The union argues that honesty is an undue burden. They want us to believe that treating parents as partners in education is a labor violation. When PERB naturally sided with its union donors and ordered the district to dump the policy, they exposed the true nature of the education establishment in California: they believe your children belong to the state the moment they step onto campus.
The district rightfully fought this radical overreach all the way to the highest court in the land. And while the United States Supreme Court ultimately declined to intervene on this contract issue—leaving the state labor board's bureaucratic order intact—the legal technicalities do not change the moral truth. A labor board contract cannot overrule the United States Constitution, nor can it erase a parent's biological and moral duty to protect their child.
This fight is not over and the teachers will lose this legal battle- just like California AG Bonta lost the case that was to force teachers to lie to parents: Federal Court Overturns California’s Gender Secrecy Policies: https://heidelblog.net/2026/02/federal-court-overturns-californias-gender-secrecy-policies/.
Sacramento’s Legal War on Rocklin Families

If the union’s backdoor legal maneuvering wasn’t enough, the state of California decided to bring out the heavy artillery. The California Department of Education (CDE) filed a aggressive lawsuit—a writ of mandate—in Placer County Superior Court, trying to bully Rocklin into submission. Sacramento’s highly paid lawyers are screaming about "discrimination" and "privacy rights," using weaponized legal jargon to disguise a sinister agenda: cutting parents completely out of the loop.
Let’s be entirely clear about student privacy. A child does not have a constitutional right to lead a double life engineered by government employees behind closed doors. Real, compassionate mental healthcare doesn't happen in secret school closets under the supervision of a union activist with a classroom pointer. It happens at home, around the dinner table, with the family that loves them, pays for their medical care, and bears the lifelong responsibility for their well-being.
The state wants to pretend that parents are inherently dangerous to their own children. They build their entire legal argument on the insulting premise that if a parent finds out their child is struggling with their identity, that parent will automatically lash out. This is a disgusting, malicious slander against the good moms and dads of Rocklin. The overwhelming majority of parents love their children unconditionally and would move mountains to help them navigate a difficult time. For the state to assume otherwise—and use that assumption to mandate government-sanctioned deception—is an intolerable insult to every family in Placer County.

The Hypocrisy of "Defying" the Community Mandate
What makes this coordinated assault on Rocklin so infuriating is how deeply undemocratic it is. The radical activists love to lecture us about "democracy," but they completely reject it when the voters don't do what they want.
When the parental notification policy was up for debate, the people of Rocklin made their voices crystal clear. In the last school board elections (2024) the community overwhelmingly rejected the union-backed, establishment candidates who wanted to keep parents in the dark. Rocklin voters swept a pro-transparency, pro-parent board into office by massive, undeniable 16% margins. Its time to speak out! url: https://wakeupplacer.com/kids/travis-mougeotte-and-rocklin-teachers-are-still-defying-parents-and-federal-law-its-time-to-speak-out/ )
The current school board isn't "going rogue." They are doing exactly what they were hired to do. They are executing a direct, democratic mandate from the taxpayers who fund these schools. Yet, we still have activist teachers in our classrooms who think their personal ideological crusade is more important than the explicit will of the community, the directives of the board, and federal law.
