Charlie Kirk came to Placer County ~6 times over the last 5 years.

Since he died at 31- visiting Placer County several times over five years is statistically significant. 5 years is ~ 20% of his life.

Placer County is not a vacation spot- we are just a small piece of the world. Why did he come?

  1. Because we had too many schoolteachers like Travis Mougeotte who were willing to block parents out of their kids lives - AND
  2. Because we did not have enough folks like Charlie Kirk who would publicly debate Travis and schoolteachers like him.

Please see the following WUP article for perpective: https://wakeupplacer.com/kids/travis-mougeotte-and-rocklin-teachers-are-still-defying-parents-and-federal-law-its-time-to-speak-out/

At the time, Wake Up Placer (WUP) writers were excited that Mr. Kirk came.  Conservatives were desperate for help and we were thankful for his.

Some of the WUP team were part of local leaders that met with Mr. Kirk.

After Mr. Kirk’s death, the WUP staff listened to the national leaders as they spoke about Mr. Kirk and all of them defined him as a kind and giving man.  The members of the WUP team that met with Mr. Kirk had slightly different thoughts.  They saw him as a bit rough and hard on us.  He could be short with local folks – and sometimes would roughly cajole them.

In light of his death, the writers at WUP have had time to discuss and review Mr. Kirk’s visits to Placer County and one item become clear: Mr. Kirk was willing to spend most of his life working to get other people to be willing to publicly disagree with folks.  He was willing to spend most of his life debating folks so that they would see that Jesus’s rules for their life were worth adopting.

Mr. Kirk spent his entire adult life going from town to town debating people – mostly because local folks would not do it. He came to our town, to show us that debating people is not dangerous, and that it desperately needed to be done.

The WUP team believes that they now understand why he was edgy with us.  We needed to be willing to take a step out in faith and publicly disagree and debate with others in our town- and many of us would not do it.

As we look at the comments from those that celebrated his assassination, what is clear is that because we don’t debate, folks are able to hold onto their ideas, and the socialists, the LGBTQ, the feminists continue to sell their ideas unchallenged in the public square.

Many folks are saying that the socialists, the LGBTQ, and the feminists that are cheering Mr. Kirk’s death energized folks to shoot Mr. Kirk to provoke right-wing agitators to strike back. To kill him would provoke a response and create a shooting civil war.

The WUP team disagrees.

We think that the LGBTQ, the feminists, the socialists are doing this because they know that the right-wing  folks are scared of talking to their neighbors in the public square about this ideas.

Publicly announcing that:

is considered rude and impolite- when it should be considered the wise thing to do.

In California it’s easier to move out of the state than say that $37T in debt would not have been created if we returned to Jesus, fought for our familes and folks lived without a government handout.

Instead, we created a system where women seek their well-being, not the well-being of their family and kids. The rest of the public square focuses on what makes them feel good, sex drugs and rock and roll. (or sex changes)

Until we are willing to say these things, to discuss these things in the public square, we need to pray that God sends us more Mr. Kirks.

Lastly, the WUP writers realize we should have given Charlie, who spent a lot of time away from this his family trying to save ours, a lot more grace when he was in Placer County.
